75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Symposium and Tour
December 1–8, 2016
Exactly 75 years after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, The National WWII Museum returns to the sites that defined “a date which will live in infamy.” Highlights include an exclusive four-part symposium discussing the events leading up to that fateful day, followed by access to important historic sites, a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial, a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the attacks, and a private, catered dinner on the deck of the USS Missouri. Throughout the trip, lectures by esteemed historians from The National WWII Museum, Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU), and other local authorities on Hawaiian and Asia-Pacific history give depth to site visits, and authentic Polynesian experiences offer rich cultural context in an exquisite oceanfront setting.View Itinerary
The Moana Surfrider
Opened shortly after the turn of the 20th century, this resort—dubbed “The First Lady of Waikiki”—remains a gem on the beautiful island of Oahu. Located centrally in bustling Honolulu and on famous Waikiki Beach, the Moana Surfrider is in a hub of activity and features breathtaking outdoor communal spaces for a festive tropical atmosphere, as well as luxurious private hotel rooms. Each guest on the tour will stay in a room with an ocean view. Steeped in history, the hotel includes an on-site historical museum. It is also one of only two hotels in operation on Oahu at the time of the Japanese attack (the hotel remained open afterward, but found itself filled with servicemen and defense-related personnel). It has since been updated to the highest standards of modern luxury, including the only spa on Waikiki Beach.View Itinerary

Exclusive One-Day Symposium
A four-part educational symposium brings together our featured historians and HPU faculty to set the stage for the site visits to come, discussing the days leading up to the attack, all set at historic Aloha Tower. In between lectures, guests can journey to the top of Aloha Tower and take in stunning panoramic views of Oahu. In the aftermath of the attacks, the tower was painted camouflage so it could “disappear” at night, hidden from view. Today, it is the center of a revitalized marketplace on the oceanfront and serves as a satellite campus for Hawai'i Pacific University. The symposium will be filled with captivating lectures—from both Museum historians and HPU faculty—divided into four sessions.Learn More
